Granting Access and Admin Access to Workforce Intelligence

Permission Levels

Tempo Workforce Intelligence Access governs whether a user can open the application at all. Without this permission, Workforce Intelligence is hidden from Jira's navigation and inaccessible via direct link.

Tempo Workforce Intelligence Admin is a separate, higher permission that builds on Access rather than replacing it (an admin still requires Access to open the app in the first place). Admin unlocks the "Manage Organization" area within Workforce Intelligence's settings, where teams and their memberships are created and edited. A user with Access but not Admin can use the app normally, but won't see this section; attempting to access it directly will return a not-found page rather than a permissions error.

Out of the box, both permissions are granted only to your Jira administrators group. If you want other people to use or manage Workforce Intelligence, a Jira admin needs to extend one or both permissions to the right users or groups.

Granting Access

  1. Go to Jira's administration area (the gear icon in the top navigation) and open System → Global permissions. This is the same screen Jira uses for any global permission, not something specific to Workforce Intelligence.

  2. Find Tempo Workforce Intelligence Access in the list.

  3. Add the individual users or, more commonly, the group(s) who should be able to open the app.

  4. Save. Access takes effect the next time the affected users load Jira, no reinstall or reconfiguration of the app is needed.

Granting Admin Access

  1. On the same Global permissions screen, find Tempo Workforce Intelligence Admin.

  2. Add the users or groups who should be able to manage teams and team membership inside Workforce Intelligence.

  3. Save. Make sure anyone you add here also has (or is separately given) Tempo Workforce Intelligence Access — admin permission alone won't let someone open the app.
